10K last weekend

Opps I forgot to post this earlier in the week…. Oh well here it is!

So I finished my 10K and it felt awesome! Official time was 1:05:30, which is pretty awesome for me! It was pretty chilly out and with the wind I think it was about 25 degrees, but it was worth it! The course wasn’t my favorite as it is a 5K course and you just keep looping until you reach your race distance (5K, 10K or 15K). It is hard to see the finish line but know that you have 1 or 2 more laps to run! Very mentally challenging…but I survived.  The medal is pretty cool…..

I am hoping that we get a different one for the 2nd part of the series, which is April 12th. I will be doing the 15K! Hopefully it won’t be too hard since I will have been on vacation in Puerto Rico for basically the whole week before it. I am so unbelievably excited to go to Puerto Rico… just bad timing as I probably won’t get much training done while I am there and I definitely need to! Oh well… the half marathon isn’t until May 2nd, which really is the end goal of all this training I’ve been doing!

I also just signed up for another half marathon on November 8th in Wilmington, NC! My best friend from college lives there so it will be a perfect opportunity to go see her and run a half marathon together!! My mom is also going as she is an avid runner too! (Now you know where I get it!) Should be a really good time, as it is usually about 70 degrees down there in November!

Then the next weekend (November 15th) my mom and I are doing the Columbus Hot Chocolate 15K! We are race junkies, haha. I’ve been thinking about making it my goal to run a race (maybe even a half marathon) in every state! It would be a fun goal and I would get to travel a lot! J Which I love doing!

Friday!!

Who is excited that it is Friday!? I am!! Plus it is officially the first day of Spring! I am so ready for warmer weather!

I am doing a 10K this Sunday, so I am pretty excited about that. This is the first race of a 2 part race series I am doing to help train for my half marathon. The next one is a 15K in April!

I highly recommend signing up for some shorter races during your training months. It makes it easier to train for a big race if you have little victories along the way to help keep you motivated and inspired! Plus who doesn’t love a “free” medal and t-shirt! Speaking of medals, I found an awesome DIY medal/running bib shadow box display idea on Pinterest that I have been meaning to do for my last 2 half marathons. I will post pictures once I actually get them done! For now I will just share my current inspiration!

Intro

Hi everyone! I am Lauren… a fitness buff! I love working out and training for new challenges! I have completed 2 half marathons, and am in training for my third! Running is my escape. It is a chance for me to clear my mind of all the stresses in life and just be me. I have also tried many other forms of exercise, (which I also love) such as Hot Yoga…such a good sweaty workout! Spinning, TRX, Pilates, Kayaking, pretty much anything athletic!

So this week I am starting a new workout/healthy eating challenge. It is the Fit Girls Guide, Fitkini Body Challenge, you can find more information here (www.fitgirlsguide.com). Basically it is all about eating clean, healthy food and working out daily. I’ve already been doing this for some time, but I have hit a weight loss plateau and I thought this might be a fun idea to keep me on track and help with portions and healthy recipes. I am really hoping this gets my butt in gear for beach/bikini season!! I am super excited to get started, and I will keep you up to date on my progress!

I have been trying to find fitness inspiration everywhere… Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, you name it; I’ve been looking at it! I have seen some pretty awesome fitness motivation tank tops and they have inspired me to make some of my own. I'd love to share them with you, so if you are interested, you can buy them online (links are below)!
